Objectives:
1. Recognize mistakes that compromise the integrity of child forensic interviews in suspected sexual abuse cases.
2. Gain an understanding of the issues involved in treating child witnesses prior to trial.
3. Increase knowledge of the controversial role of actuarial assessment in predicting future violence.
Dr. Gentry received his doctorate in Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1977. Following an internship at the VA Medical Center in Topeka, he worked for 15 years at Osawatomie State Hospital – the last 13 as Chief Psychologist. Of note, in 1977, he founded a nonprofit corporation that opened two group homes (now part of Temporary Lodging for Children, Inc.) in Johnson County for children and adolescents requiring intensive services. Dr. Gentry has maintained a private practice since 1980 (full-time beginning in 1993) and currently provides Clinical, Child and Forensic Psychology services. He is one of only a handful of licensed psychologists in Kansas authorized for both Clinical and Child-Clinical practice.
