Welcome to the science-based world of Gottman Couples Therapy! During this workshop, you’ll experience an overview of the Gottman Method, including the new Gottman Connect assessment, the Sound Relationship House, and tools you’ll be able to immediately use with your clients. Information useful with pre-marital couples, prospective parents, and couples with challenging dynamics will be shared.
Presenter: Dr. Tamara Coder Mikinski
Dr. Tammy Coder Mikinski is a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist, Gottman Level 1 Presenter, Bringing Baby Home Educator, and Art & Science of Love workshop Leader. A member of the global Gottman Referral Network, Dr. Mikinski offers extensive experience with a wide range of common issues faced by diverse individuals, couples, and families. Currently Dr. Mikinski serves on the Counseling Psychology faculty at the University of Kansas and maintains a private practice in Johnson County, Kansas.
Objectives:
Describe 2 interventions to enhance a couple’s friendship system
Describe 2 interventions to help strengthen a couple’s conflict management
Identify 3 benefits of physiological self-soothing and how it contributes to a healthy relationship.
